Presents and evaluates the Byzantine Architectural heritage through a comparative approach; investigates the architectural context of the Byzantine world that expanded throughout the Eastern Mediterranean and emerged as one of the prominent architectural layers of the Anatolian peninsula. Provides a fuller understanding of the medieval period in the Eastern Mediterranean by opening comparative windows into the architectural characteristics of related medieval cultures such as Western Medieval, Early Islamic, Crusader, Seljuk, Beyliks etc.
