CI 516 Child and Adolescent Psychology

The course provides an introduction to the milestones of development from chilhood through adolescence to adulthood. It covers developmental research methods, the biological and social contextual contributions to individual development, and the fundamental theories of cognitive and psychological development (such as those of Piaget and Erickson). These theories are integrated into a consideration of physical, cognitive, social and emotional development in childhood and adolescence. Aspects of developmental research which focus on the implications for parenting and education are discussed. Credit units: 3 ECTS Credit units: 5.
