PSYC 506 Introduction to Electroencephalography (EEG)

This course covers the theory and practice of electroencephalography (EEG) as a method of investigation in cognitive neuroscience. It explores what EEG reveals about perception, cognition, and action as well as the physiology of the human brain. The course will introduce techniques to record and analyze EEG data. Hands-on training will be provided using the EEG lab at Aysel Sabuncu Brain Research Center on campus and with practical homeworks. The course aims to provide students 1) theoretical knowledge about how EEG can be used to address research questions in cognitive neuroscience, 2) practical skills about how EEG can be recorded and analyzed, 3) experience in developing a research question, designing an EEG experiment, and writing a research proposal.
Credit units: 3 ECTS Credit units: 5.
