PSYC 483 Theory of Mind
|
Theory of Mind (or ToM) is the term for the mental competence that enables humans (and possibly other primates) to represent and predict true and false mental states. This is a rapidly growing interdisciplinary (e.g., developmental, comparative, cognitive and clinical psychology, philosophy, neuroscience) area of study. The class will survey and analyze current theories and research in the evolution and development of ToM in relation to other cognitive and social abilities, in both typical and atypical populations.
