Introduction to international refugee law. Asylum – migration nexus, access to territory, universal principles and basic concepts of refugee protection. Criteria for granting refugee protection. Protection elsewhere: internal flight alternative, first country of asylum and safe third country. Loss and denial of refugee status. Evidentiary issues in refugee case adjudication. European convention on human rights and refugee protection. Complementary and temporary forms of protection. National asylum system in Turkey. Deportation and administrative detention. Available legal remedies. Individual application to the Turkish constitutional court. (in English)
