HIST 710 Topics in Modern European History

This course will take the most significant episodes of modern European (and in part world) history with a view to encouraging students' interpretive abilities. Designed around the discussion of several canonical works from the Renaissance to the end of the 20th century, the topics will be European modernity, the Protestant Reformation, the European state system, the Enlightenment, revolutions (political, economic, and social), nationalism, colonialism, the world wars, decolonization, and European integration.
