As a cultural period, the "Renaissance" encompassed the innovative revival of Latin, Roman, and Greek erudition and knowledge, beginning with a renewal of the Ciceronian letters, also influencing a renewal of visual production and aesthetics. The course offers critical approaches to the Renaissance as a cultural and historiographical period through the discussion of the development of a tradition of scholarship, thereby offering critical insights into the most recent contributions in the field.
