The aim of this course is to acquaint students with the basic characteristics of the Israeli society and political system. The course covers the evolution of a self-governing Jewish community from its origins in Ottoman Palestine until the present day. It addresses issues such as the governmental system, political parties, foreign policy, military, nationalism, religion, citizenship and ethnicity from a comparative perspective.
Credit units: 3 ECTS Credit units: 5.
