POLS 222 Politics of the Environment
|
This course provides students with a broad overview of human-environment relations in our current moment of rising conflicts over land, water, air and the uneven consequences of anthropogenic climate change. Drawing on inter-disciplinary literature from around the world, we will learn how contested ideas of nature, history and human agency inform understandings of and responses to environmental "crises" and "disasters". Finally, we will engage with why struggles for environmental justice cannot be separated from questions of inequality and power.
