IR 5120 Topics in International Security

This seminar course conducts a comprehensive advanced survey of the existing scholarship on international security, examining the leading theories and concepts, debates, and current issues of theoretical and policy-relevance interest in the subfield. The first part of the seminar discusses the main forms of violent international conflict, together with their causes and consequences; the second part is devoted to policies aimed at preventing, and when prevention fails, mitigating violence; and the third part examines contemporary key security concerns.
