ECON 321 Financial Institutions and Markets
|
The main financial institutions and markets, along with their regulators are introduced in this course. Fundamentals-based asset prices for a variety of securities, the markets these are traded in, and the actors in these markets are discussed. Determination of the short interest rate by central banks and the relationship between financial and macroeconomic outcomes is the basic framework within which the analysis of other asset prices are carried out. The markets for bank loans, stocks, bonds, and derivatives, as well as the term structure of interest rates are among the topics to be considered.
