MAN 499 Fundamentals of Starting a New Business

This course aims to provide the students with the practical knowledge they would need to start a new business in Turkey. The topics to be discussed include basics of entrepreneurship, legal foundations and types of businesses in Turkish Business Law, small business taxation in Turkey, essentials of market research, competitor and risk analysis, business plan development, customer outreach, support mechanisms for small business financing and legal/bureaucratic steps in establishing a firm in Turkey. The codified knowledge will be supplemented with experience sharing of individual entrepreneurs, experts in the field and governmental officials to contextualize the material for Turkey.
