HART 376 The Land of a Thousand Gods: History and Literature of Ancient Anatolia

This course will survey the history and literature of early Anatolian civilizations such as the Hittites, Phrygians, and Urartians, from the Early Bronze Age (c. 3000 BCE) to the end of the Persian Period (c. 330 BCE). Students will explore the history of Anatolia through a diverse range of theoretical lectures and hands-on activities: reading and interpreting primary sources (myths, annals, treaties, letters, etc.) in English translation, visiting museums and archaeological sites, or participating in workshops on ancient writing techniques.
Credit units: 3 ECTS Credit units: 5.
