This course aims to introduce the students to four iconic sites in Turkey, which all obtain a special position due to their inclusion in the UNESCO World Heritage canon. These "model sites", which are all very different in date, size and function, will be thoroughly surveyed, also in scope of their modern cultural and political significance. Suitable for archaeology and non-archaeology students alike.
