AMER 465 American Literature Beyond the Secular

This course examines American twentieth- and twenty-first-century literature against the grain of its presumed secularity. In addition to literary readings, the course also delves into theoretical work in philosophy, religious studies, and literary studies to historicize the secularization thesis and more deeply consider its premises in the American context.
