ELIT 440 Literary Imagination and the End of the World
|
This course explores the question of why literary writers throughout British history, from John Milton to Samuel Beckett, have so often been fixated by the subject of the world's end. In addition to performing close readings of various poems, plays, and novels that focus on the end of the world, this course will also address some of the larger social and historical resonances of the theme of apocalypse.
