ELIT 418 English Drama During the Restoration

This course is a study of the plays and playwrights during the Restoration period from 1660 to 1700. It explores drama and politics with special attention given to different dramatic forms used by the playwrights and their plays during the Restoration. Along with the close analysis of the plays that reflect the characteristics of the restoration drama the course aims to probe into English society, audience, different theatrical modes, and the ways in which plays contribute to the social change in a historical perspective.
