ELIT 395 Literary Visions of Freedom

This course examines how literature construes, critiques, celebrates, and embodies notions of freedom, individual or collective. Topics to be covered will include the following: representations of revolution and rebellion, tragic freedom, liberalism in the novel, utopian literature, and transcendentalism. Alternate years may focus on different periods.
Credit units: 3 ECTS Credit units: 5.
