ME 455 Cellular Biomechanics

Fundamental concepts and experimental techniques in molecular biology, statistical mechanics of polymers, review of solid and fluid mechanics. Mechanics of cellular polymers. Polymer networks and cytoskeleton. The role of stress in cytoskeleton dynamics as related to cell growth, spreading, motility and adhesion. Cellular mechanotransduction. Current research topics in cellular biomechanics.
