ME 413 Biological Fluid Dynamics
|
Application of fluid dynamics principles to internal (physiological) and external fluid flows in biological systems. The internal flows involve blood flow in veins and arteries, flows of blood cells, respiratory flows, ciliary flows. Examples for the external flows are flying of birds and insects, swimming micro-organisms such as bacteria, their collective behavior and synchronization (fish schools, bird flocks). Focusing on integrating fluid dynamics concepts to address various problems in biological systems. It primarily aims at developing a broad knowledge and a critical thinking regarding the current research challenges in biological fluid dynamics.
