IE 457 Sustainable Operations

Concepts of sustainability and sustainable operations. Evaluation and implementation of sustainability measures. Analysis of sustainable operations from the value chain perspective. Sustainable actions and policies at different phases in the product life cycle. The use of quantitative operations models and techniques to analyze and evaluate the viability of sustainable opportunities. Topics include Triple Bottom Line, Environmental Product Differentiation, Lean and Six Sigma, Life Cycle Assessment, Design for Environment, Remanufacturing, Take-Back Legislation, and Closed-Loop Supply Chains.
Credit units: 3 ECTS Credit units: 5, Prerequisite:
IE 375 and (MATH 230 or MATH 250 or MATH 255).
