MATH 330 Principles of Applied Mathematics

Fundamental ideas of applied mathematics. Modeling approaches, deterministic and stochastic models. Transformation and approximation methods. Dimensional analysis, similarity solutions, perturbation methods and asymptotic expansions. ODE and PDE models, reaction-diffusion equations, pattern formation, wave phenomena. Variational principles. Applications to physical and biological sciences.

MATH 223 and MATH 240.
