CHEM 420 DIY Instrument Making: How to build in-house spectrometers and analytical devices
|
Intro/review of fundamental optical and electronic tools employed in analytical instrumentation will be covered along with how each tool is employed. Students will perform practical instrument building projects (e.g. do-it-yourself/DIY spectrometers, microscopes, chemical sensors, pressure, temperature, concentration, conductivity, pH, light intensity/wavelength sensors, etc.) directly related to practical issues in light of the topics covered in the class. This course aims to equip the students with the practical skills for future device design/making towards interdisciplinary research applications, device prototypes.
Credit units: 3 ECTS Credit units: 5, Prerequisite:
