PSYC 482 Mind in Evolution
|
What is the place of evolution in contemporary psychology and cognitive science? The intuition that evolutionary thinking and methods can be brought to bear on psychological questions has produced several movements in psychology, some very prolific. This course focuses on appreciating some of the more influential of these approaches, the sorts of questions they are suited to address, their assumptions, their limitations, and the specific theoretical climates in which each emerged. The course provides a critical introduction to the continued evolution of evolutionary approaches in psychology.
