BIM 231 Business Research Skills

This course is designed to teach both academic and business information research skills. The emphasis is on strategies, not sources. The structure of the course is constantly evolving in response to changes in information technology. Students will learn how to define information needs; construct effective search strategies; find and retrieve information; and to critically evaluate sources. Also, introduction to Internet and the use of search tools for effective information gathering on the World Wide Web, plus use of the Bilkent Intranet for library searches (BLISS), for Online Student Information (e.g. STARS, Student Services, STHM Website) and for sending e-mail, will be given. This class will be enable students to achieve better results with school assignments and future business project. At the end of the semester, students are expected to submit an in-depth Academic Research Report.
