PHIL 306 Philosophy of Language

We discuss key concepts such as: truth, meaning, reference, logical form, speech act and metaphor. In addition we critically assess various theories that aim to show what it is for a statement to be true. As preparation, the course commences with a brief recap of key aspects of logic.
