HART 306 Hellenistic and Roman Sculpture

An analytical survey of Hellenistic and Roman sculpture from the time of Alexander the Great to that of Constantine the Great (ca 300 BC-AD 300), this course looks at the techniques and materials sculptors used during the period, and the range of topics they depicted, from portraiture to historical narratives, as well as the stylistic changes and approaches made in this time span.
