NSC 517 Neuroanatomy

The study of the nervous system, its structure, and function is known as neuroanatomy. This course examines the anatomy of the central and peripheral nervous systems in detail, including the brain, spinal cord, cranial nerves, and vascular structures. Students will discover how neurons are organized and connected, as well as the importance of supporting structures.
The course will begin with an overview of basic neuroanatomical terminology, then the primary anatomical structures and processes involved in sensory perception, motor control, autonomic organization, and higher cognitive functions for instance, learning, memory, emotion, and language will be covered in this course. Students will also develop an understanding of the relationship between neuroanatomy and brain function, which will enable them to critically evaluate research findings in the field of neuroscience.
The course will be provided in the form of lectures, interactive activities, and video demonstrations. Some lectures can be supported with anatomical models, if necessary, due to understanding of the 3D structure. Students will have a good foundation in the anatomy and function of the nervous system after completing this course, which will be valuable for further study in subjects such as neuroscience, psychology, and medicine.
